It takes 1-2 weeks to submit a trademark registration application at the Industrial Property Office. The actual registration process at the Office usually takes 5-10 months. However, the validity of the trademark – priority – is marked by the date of the submission of the application. That is, if the mark is fully registered, its validity date will correspond to the date the application was submitted.

If the trademark is approved by the Industrial Property Office, its validity is dated from the date of submission.

You are only entitled to use the ® symbol together with the trademark once the trademark has been fully registered at the Industrial Property Office.

Yes, you can use your mark (company or service name, logo, etc.) before submitting the application and throughout the registration period. However, your mark will only become a registered trademark after the registration process is complete.

The easiest thing you can do is fill out the trademark registration order form and we will guide you through the entire process. Please follow the predefined steps in the order form. The content of the application will be sent to you for approval before it is submitted to the Office.

Your trademark will be valid in the selected region(s) of registration. You can choose from the following list.

A trademark is essentially (intangible) property. It can therefore be owned by an association, a company or a private person.

Trademarks are valid for ten years from the date of application. Validity can be extended periodically by 10 years. You can order an extension here.

But what can occur? Another company can be of the opinion that your mark is too similar to their trademark and can file an objection to the registration of your mark. In such case, you need to defend your mark, preferably by using a lawyer or patent attorney.
